The Sunny Coast’s best kept brunch secret

Woombye is a tiny town nestled in the winding hillsides of the sunshine coast hinterland, a 30-minute drive inland from Maroochydore. We spend a lot of time at the Sunshine Coast, Jake’s family live there, and Liam likes to get out snapping in the gorgeous landscapes on offer. In all of our trips north, we never considered heading to the sleepy town of Woombye, not because we have anything against sleepy towns, in fact we love them for their charm and relaxed vibes, but Woombye has just never been on our radar.

Thanks to the magic of Instagram, some very charming photos of a cute café, Winnie Woombye, caught our eyes and lured us into making the short drive out for a Saturday morning brunch date.

Think gorgeous, white, modern, Ibiza beachside villa vibes. From the outstanding exterior design with large umbrellas providing shade from the Sunshine Coast’s eternally warm winter sun, over chic tables ready to bear witness to your brunch feast soon to come. The friendly staff inside this intimate café provide that warm coast hospitality that makes you value escaping city life when you get the chance.

The most important part however, the Menu.

WHAT TO EAT

The ‘Special Reuben’
this has to be the most delicious toastie going on the Coast at the moment! Delicious melting cheese over cured meat, with a mouth-watering zest from pickles and mustard.

Avocado on Sourdough
of course we had to… its our number one go-to. However, top this with a perfectly poached egg with runny yolk that covers the delicious dill and crisp feta cheese. This is a brunch staple, and Winnie got it right.

Salted Caramel Thick Shake
you’d think after all of this food we couldn’t fit in a shake as well, but Winnie’s shakes are not to be missed. The perfect sweet-milky goodness everyone deserves on a Saturday morning. The perfect ice-cream to milk ratio that just hits the spot.

Winnie Woombye, is a great spot for a weekend getaway brunch date. It offers an intimate setting with an off-the-beaten-track location, as well as an Instagram-worthy aesthetic and a menu fit for inner-city brunchers.

HOW TO GET THERE

Winnie was super accessible from the Bruce Highway, we took the Nambour Connection Rd exit north and followed for 5 minutes. We can’t wait for our next visit and either can our tummies.
